Special Projects

Government agencies often are tasked to conduct special activities to support their functions, sometimes at very infrequent intervals, and sometimes simply identified as a needed one-time project to address a need or challenge.

All too often, agencies find they do not have an organizational structure to handle the project or they have no expertise with the challenge, or simply need assistance in organizing the project and getting it under way.

We can help. Some examples:

  • Tax/Fee Amnesties

GPS has a number of former government executives who have organized and executed tax amnesties – working from the initial planning stages, organization of internal assets, acquisition of external collection partners, and actual execution. We can help agencies make these projects more effective and improve anticipated outcomes.

  • Non-filer programs

Especially for tax organizations, GPS has executives who have worked to discover taxpayers who have not filed, developed programs for communicate with those taxpayers, and developed programs to bring those taxpayers in to current and future compliance.

  • Fraud detection and prevention

GPS has executives deeply involved in fraud detection and prevention. Fraud costs agencies billions of dollars every year – impacting revenues and services to constituents. We can help with analysis and recommendations for process and product improvements that minimize loss through fraudulent filings.

  • ID Theft/Protection

One of our century’s major problems is identity theft. Our executive as highly experienced in both protecting systems from giving up constituent personal Information (PPI), but also how to address constituents about this topic.

  • Managing old A/R

Every agency has old accounts in arrears that they have not been able to collect upon. Sometimes this can be a significant issue. There are ways to effectively address old A/R and our executives have the experience to help government agencies with proper segmentation and identification and subsequent collection.

  • New statute development

State, county and city governance is usually in the hands of elected officials with little or no experience in drafting effective legislation. While some have access to assets to do this for them, more often, if legislations is needed, agencies are required to develop the legislation themselves. And often they don’t have the expertise either. Yet this is a critically important function – as any government agency head can attest when having to deal with poorly written statutes. We can help draft statutes – or evaluate drafts – to help ensure the statute language produces legislation that achieves the desired results.

  • Customer experience research

Do you know what your constituents think? Do you really know what they want or need? Too often government agencies have neither the time nor assets to conduct customer experience/satisfaction research. We have that experience and can help.

  • Customer and public communication

Daily and routine communication with constituents is one of the principle drivers in both customer experience satisfaction and successful outcomes. If your communication with constituents in not effective, then outcomes will not be effective, and the agency reputation suffers – as does customer experience. We can help. Out executives have extensive experience in all forms of customer/constituent communication and multiple levels and via multiple channels. We can help!
